The Saugatucket River is approximately 7.5 miles long. Its headwaters are in the Shermantown area of North Kingstown, Rhode Island. The Saugatucket flows south into the town of South Kingstown and into the villages of Peace Dale and Wakefield. In Wakefield, it falls over a mill dam, becomes tidal and empties into Point Judith Pond, its estuary on the Atlantic Ocean. The Saugatucket River watershed has five tributaries and seven ponds or lakes
