The Museum of Art Rhode Island School of Design is the state's leading museum of art and design. Highlights include Impressionist paintings, 20th-century design, Gorham silver, Newport furniture, an ancient Egyptian (332-30 BCE) mummy, and a 12th-century Buddha - the largest historic Japanese wooden sculpture in the United States. Major artists represented include Cezanne, Chanel, Copley, Degas, Hirst, Homer, LeWitt, Manet, Matisse, Picasso, Rothko, Sargent, Turner, Twombly, Van Gogh, and Warhol - to name a few. The Museum presents several exhibitions a year and offers engaging public programs and events for all ages. RISD|works, the only museum store of its kind in the country, features designs by RISD alumni and faculty. Museum entrances at 224 Benefit Street and 20 North Main Street, Providence RI.
