Founded in 1912 by a group of prominent artists, it is housed in the John Griswold house (1864), designed in the stick style by Richard Morris Hunt, the architect of many Newport mansions, and in the Cushing Memorial Gallery (1921). Changing exhibitions of contemporary and historical art of Newport and Southeastern New England. The museum offers art classes, lectures, tours, performing arts events, and evening summer concert picnics.
