Poe Party: Celebrate the man of macabre's 205th birthday
Providence Public Library
January 19, 2014
Sunday 2 p.m. - 3 p.m.
On January 19, bibliophiles will celebrate the father of detective fiction, the reluctant gothic, the man, the myth, the macabre, Edgar Allen Poe.
Event organizer and Providence native Carl L. Johnson — who also launched NecronomiCon, the citywide celebration of weird fiction writer and Providence native H.P. Lovecraft — will recognize Poe for his unique contributions to the American canon. The event features dramatic readings of Poe's prose and poetry, plus verse composed in honor of Poe's birthday. At the close of the celebration, attendees will recite “The Raven,” Poe's most successful poem. Prep for participation here.
