A National Historic Landmark. Newport's most palatial summer residence was built (1893-1895) for Cornelius Vanderbilt II by Richard Morris Hunt. Modeled after Italian Renaissance palaces, the seventy-room mansion overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Two audio tours available including a Family Tour geared to children. Children's cottage. Decorated for Christmas in December. Museum store.
