Built in 1739 and attributed to architect Richard Munday, it is Rhode Island's oldest government building and the fourth oldest State House in the nation. It has been used for government and public meetings, important trials, religious and social functions. This National Historic Landmark is open seasonally for tours and throughout the years for recitals and educational programs.
