There is no off-season for spectator sports in Rhode Island. Red Sox Nation thrives in Pawtucket, which is home to Boston's AAA affiliate, the Pawtucket Red Sox. From April to September, the boys of summer entertain thousands of kids and kids-at-heart. Our local American Hockey League affiliate of the Boston Bruins, the Providence Bruins, offers family fun for all ages from October to April. Meanwhile, if it's big time college basketball you are after, look no farther than the nationally prominent Rhode Island Rams and Providence Friars. The state's flagship university, the URI Rams play exciting Atlantic 10 basketball and the team is the pulse of South County at The Ryan Center from November to March. The Providence Friars play Big East basketball on the hardwood at Dave Gavitt Court in the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence. If Ivy League basketball is more your thing, Providence is host to the Brown Bears, which are near the top of the Ivy this season.
