Matthew McCarthy , was among nine chefs chosen to complete for the New England title. He is Fish's executive chef and partner, who has won Food and Wine magazine's reader poll as The People's Best New Chef, New England.
He was up against nine other chefs for the New England region. McCarthy opened Jamestown Fish in December in 2001. He serves European inspired seafood-based cuisine. He has worked in New York City and Restaurant Daniel, Gramercy Tavern and Craft. He has also spent six years at Pasta Nostra in Norwalk. He studied at Hospitality Management/Culinary Arts from NYC College of Technology and at Birmingham College of Food, Tourism & Creative Studies in Birmingham, England. He has also earned a Level 4 Diploma in Wine and Spirits from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust in 2002, and in 2008 was published in Wine and Spirits magazine.
