The hills may be famously alive with the sound of music, but the Pawcatuck River in Westerly comes alive April 28 with the color of yellow, as 20,000 rubber ducks will bob in the waterway, a fundraising tradition now in its 20th year.

The event, hosted by the Ocean Chamber of Commerce, gets sponsorship from individuals businesses, to raise money for more than 40 local schools and nonprofits; if you enter you get the chance to win one of nearly 100 prizes.

It’s a full-out family day with kiddie rides, food booths, games and more, with the biggest part the dumping of a literal dump truck full of bright yellow rubber ducks into the Pawcatuck from a bridge, much to the delight of onlookers of all ages.
