Thanks to the lobby’s original ornate ceiling and famed glass-and-brass elevator, among other Beaux-arts design elements, the trendsetting Biltmore is still regarded as Providence’s crown jewel. Since 1922, its halls have seen and delighted everyone from the real-life Von Trapp family to the Kennedys.

You can even peruse a gallery on the 17th floor displaying curated photos, china and other archives in partnership with the Rhode Island Historical Society.
