This discussion is part of 250 Years of American Authors, a limited book discussion series honoring the richness and complexity of American literature in recognition of the nationwide 2026 Semiquincentennial. Through this series, we explore authors whose words shaped—and continue to challenge—our understanding of American identity, freedom, and history.
