A Tisket, A Tasket… Come Make a Glassket!
- 30 Meeting Street, Cumberland, 02864
- Providence
- March 7, 2026 - March 21, 2026
In this playful fused-glass class, students will design and create their own delicate glass basket using colorful solid glass rods called stringers. You’ll start by choosing a pattern and carefully layering the stringers over one another inside a drawn design, using a small amount of glue to hold everything in place.
Once your design is complete, we take over the hot part. Your piece will be fired in our kiln to fuse the stringers together, then fired a second time in a mold where it gently slumps into a beautiful concave bowl or basket-like form.
This class is perfect for absolute beginners as well as those who’ve done some fusing and want to try a technique that’s a little different from traditional sheet glass projects. The process is approachable, creative, and results in a truly one-of-a-kind sculptural piece.
Important Notes:
All pieces require two kiln firings and will be ready for pickup approximately 2 weeks after class.
Finished glass baskets are extremely delicate and are intended as stand-alone art pieces, not functional containers.
We strongly recommend displaying your piece in a safe location. Once taken home, we cannot be responsible for damage.
Ages: Adults and children 9+
Supervision Requirement: Children ages 9–12 must be supervised one-on-one by an adult or teen. No exceptions—this is a safety requirement.
Come weave with glass, skip the wicker, and leave with a glassket that’s equal parts playful and elegant.
