Broadway at Blithewold celebrates four of the great Broadway musicals. Beginning with Cole Porter’s Anything Goes, be prepared to tap your feet to hits like You’re the Top and I Get a Kick Out of You. Returning to the Festival is Lee Steiner who brought down the house with his portrayal of Tony in West Side Story last summer for the Bernstein Anniversary Concert.
Rodgers & Hammerstein produced countless award-winning musicals. For this special concert we will hear excerpts from their Tony-winning South Pacific and The King and I, including Hello, Young Lovers, Shall We Dance, A Cockeyed Optimist, and I’m Gonna Wash that Man Right Out of My Hair. Mezzo-soprano Renée Rapier and Baritone Trevor Neal will join the New York ensemble to sing Bali Hai and This Was Nearly Mine.
The concert ends with Lerner & Loewe’s My Fair Lady called “the perfect musical” including solos and ensembles: On the Street Where You Live, I Could Have Danced All Night, and Get Me to the Church on Time. Try not to sing along at this high-spirited and rousing show!
