Common Burying Ground Guided Tour Guided tours of the Common Burying Ground in Newport will take place at 10 am on Saturdays beginning June 29 and every week in July and August. The tour will start at the entrance on Warner Street (at Burnside Avenue). The focus of the tour will be stones carved in the 1700s, many from the Stevens shop. A highlight of the visit will be God's Little Acre, the largest collections of gravestones for people of African heritage in Colonial New England. The recent work of the city in conserving these important historic artifacts will also be shared. Contact the Newport Historic Cemetery Commission with questions at email@example.com. A self guided tour is available for the site using the information at the Warner Street entrance or the Farewell (southern) entrance.
