Decorative Miniature Books Workshop
- 18 Valley Street, 18 Valley Street, Jamestown, 02835
- Newport County
- May 3, 2025
Join artist and educator, Andre Lee Bassuet, in this fun, one-day introduction to bookbinding in a miniature format. Students will first learn to make decorative papers using the ancient Japansese suminagashi or “floating ink” process of marbling plain paper with water and ink. Then, we’ll use our own papers to make tiny pamphlets and hardcover casebound books. We’ll go over basic tools of bookbinding and learn how to incorporate your own artwork in books. No prior experience necessary.
All materials are included in the price of tuition. *Please note, there will be no formal lunch break, but participants are welcome to bring a bagged lunch and pause to eat anytime after the morning demonstrations.
