Hear ye, hear ye! Be it known that Swamp Meadow Community Theatre’s Get Merry! is a spectacle not to be missed this winter!
Get Merry! An Engaging Medieval Winter Solstice Revel is adapted by Audrey Dubois from an original script by Bob Hollis and the late Liz Goulet Dubois. Originally staged in 2010, and with a successful sequel in 2011, this revival features many of the original cast members as well as new voices from an incredible local talent pool. Prince Melvin has fallen in love with the Royal Hairdresser, Merry, and plans to propose on the Winter Solstice. Huzzah! However, the Queen of Foster is less than thrilled with his choice of bride... so she employs one of the Royal Fools to foil the engagement. An ensemble cast of town criers, shoemakers, cheesemongers, and barber-surgeons bring the village to life as the Royal Fools search for talents (and not-so-great “talents”) for the Royal Engagement Party. Will the Queen get her way? Or will Melvin get Merry in the end? Half variety show, half medieval rom-com, Get Merry! is a hilarious performance full of talent, heart, and many, many puns. Families of all ages will have a delightful time at the kingdom's Winter Solstice Ball.
