Every summer, the Kingston Chamber Music Festival (KCMF) offers two weeks of chamber music performed by some of the world’s most renowned musicians in a beautiful venue nestled on the University of Rhode Island’s campus. Set in a historic New England village, just a short drive from picturesque beaches with proximity to some of Rhode Island’s finest cuisine, we have every element needed for a spectacular experience! As internationally acclaimed musicians gather to infuse their incredible skill and passion into an exciting range of repertoire, concert goers enjoy one-of-a-kind musical performances.
Under the artistic direction of pianist Natalie Zhu, our programming presents a broad musical spectrum: from cherished classics in the chamber music repertoire to new works by living composers. Hear masterpieces from composers you know and love–Bach, Mozart, and Schubert, among others–and discover extraordinary pieces from newer voices such as Valerie Coleman and Jessie Montgomery. Sometimes these pieces are played by musicians who have never played together before meeting in Kingston, and sometimes by musicians who play together in larger ensembles and enjoy playing with their friends in a more intimate environment. Because we do not solely feature established ensembles, the audience gets fresh and lively music in every concert. In the words of one audience member: “Exhilarating performances, magnificent musicianship, and astute programming are KCMF's hallmark."
Among other artists, our 37th season held July 23-August 3, 2025 will feature the twice GRAMMY-nominated Dover Quartet; Henry Kramer, a pianist celebrated for his “thrilling and triumphant” performances (The New York Times); Ricardo Morales, principal clarinetist of the Philadelphia Orchestra; and Hashi Duo, featuring Moé Takamatsu on piano and Adrián Montero on classical guitar. Tickets will be available in the spring at kingstonchambermusic.org or by calling the Box Office at (401) 308-3614. FREE TICKETS are offered to students under the age of 25. In addition to concerts, community members will be invited to open rehearsals in Edwards Hall on Saturday, July 26, and Saturday, August 2, from 9:30am-12:30pm.
