The Levitt Foundation and Neighborworks Blackstone River Valley are proud to continue the Levitt AMP Woonsocket Music Series this Friday, with headliner HuDost and opener Sidy Maiga. HuDost is a neo-folk and world-rock ensemble that weaves a seamless tapestry of sound that renders tears and laughter in listeners, cultivating that nameless longing that abides somewhere in all of our hearts. This American/Canadian collaboration adeptly reaches into Bulgarian, Croatian, Macedonian, Balkan, Farsi, Turkish and Arabic musical traditions while adding their own unique perspectives to their mantras of love and healing. Sidy Maïga is a master of West African rhythms, but can also play Latin music and hip-hop. His eight-piece band AfriMading includes a singer, dancer, a balafon, which resembles a wooden xylophone, and the kora, an African stringed instrument that resembles a cross between a lute and a harp, that comes together in vibrant music that will get your feet moving and hands clapping.
Located on River Island Park in Woonsocket, this concert will include not only free music but a free workout class during the intermission presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield ON THE MOVE with chair yoga. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to the open lawn concert setting. All ages are welcome, and admission is FREE.
