Jim Heskett Unveils New Acrylic Painting Exhibition: "Light, Dark, Water"
Now on display at CUSP Gallery through June 22, 2025
A powerful new series of acrylic paintings debuts June 6 from acclaimed visual artist, Jim Heskett.
Known for his emotionally resonant work and layered narrative style, Heskett’s latest collection examines the interplay between clarity and mystery—using light, shadow, and water as metaphors for transformation. Pareidolia perfectly describes his approach of seeing imagery in nature, places or objects that come from one’s psyche or personal perspective
Light, Dark, Water features over a dozen new acrylic paintings that explore the fragile boundaries between the seen and unseen, the real and remembered. With a deep respect for traditional techniques and a distinctly modern perspective, Heskett’s brushwork evokes the fluidity of water and the ephemeral nature of light, often set against brooding, shadow-laced landscapes and interior spaces.
"In this series, water is more than a subject—it’s a voice," says Heskett. "It carries memory, reflects truth, and distorts perception. Light and dark are its dialects."
The exhibition invites viewers into an immersive visual experience, where each piece acts as a quiet meditation on stillness, tension, and release. Whether depicting a dimly lit shoreline, a reflection flickering on a pane of glass, or an interior moment of solitude, Heskett’s work continues to draw audiences into deeply contemplative spaces.
