ABOUT THE ARTISTS
ELIAS DAGHER – Pianist Elias Dagher values music’s power to tell stories and build community. He recently moved back to Quincy, MA after a two year fellowship at Bard College, where he worked daily with both vocalists and instrumentalists in his role as a collaborative pianist. He spent the summer of 2022 at the Tanglewood Music Center, where he met and collaborated with several inspiring colleagues. Some highlights of the summer included performing Julius Eastman’s Gay Guerilla for four pianos and playing the preparatory piano rehearsals for George Benjamin’s opera Lessons in Love and Violence, several of which were led by the composer himself. Some of Elias’s most influential teachers have included Eugene Kaminsky, Jeffrey Goldberg, Jerome Lowenthal, Julian Martin, Alexander Korsantia, Vivian Weilerstein, Cameron Stowe,
Kayo Iwama, and Erika Switzer. Elias also plays the mbira dzavadzimu, a centuries-old plucked instrument of metal keys wound over a wooden soundboard. The instrument comes from the Shona people of Zimbabwe. Elias is happy to be back at Grace Note Farm this fall after having performed here alongside colleagues and friends during the June 2022 Grace Note Farm Music Festival.
VIRGINIA SINDELAIR – Since 1994 Ms. Sindelar made her home in Pascoag, Rhode Island where she taught for many years, pursued equestrian activities, built her horse farm, and historic inn business (Grace Note Farm Inn). In 2018 she began the new concert series Music at the Farm with the goal of furthering the careers of brilliant young artists. Flutist Virginia Sindelar made her solo debut at the age of twelve with the Chicago Symphony String Ensemble. A pupil of Julius Baker at the Juilliard School, she earned both BA and MS degrees, and was presented the Three Arts Award in recognition of her outstanding performance.
