Newport Classical Music Festival 🎵 Festival Artists Finale: Piano Quintets and a World Premiere

Three-time GRAMMY-nominated violinist/composer Curtis Stewart curates a thrilling evening of piano quintets, including the world premiere of The Gilded Cage, composed for the Newport Classical Music Festival through our annual commissioning initiative. Stewart’s piece is inspired by his father’s time living in Newport and growing up within the Baptist AME church, as well as the history of The Breakers’ many caretakers over the decades.

This concert features the 2023 Festival Artists in their final performance of the summer— concluding with the showstopping and notoriously challenging Piano Quintet by Shostakovich.
