Eight choreographers from Rhode Island and beyond come together to present a collection of completely new works at the Festival Ballet Providence Blackbox Theatre.
The Rhode Island Womens Choreography Project (RIWCP) has a core mission to nurture, elevate, and empower artists whose voices are not traditionally heard. The project supplies participants with studio space and dancers, both of which are hard to come by and expensive for choreographers who are not yet well-established. This performance is the culmination of three weeks of hard in-studio work and many more weeks of mentored preparation. By providing a platform for artists of marginalized identities to develop their artistic voices, RIWCP aims to advance gender equity: both onstage, and off.
