RI Philharmonic Orchestra’s annual fundraising gala features the Philharmonic’s newly named Artistic Advisor Bramwell Tovey conducting an all-Tchaikovsky program, which includes guest soloist Olga Kern who joins the Orchestra for Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto. Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony and Polonaise from Eugene Onegin will also be performed.
“2019 Gala concert with Bramwell Tovey” is at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, at The VETS. It will be immediately followed by the Gala Celebration and dinner at the Renaissance Providence Hotel, which is adjacent to The VETS.
During the post-concert event, George T. Wein, a visionary in the field of music producing, music festivals, the arts, who produced the venerable Newport Jazz and co-founded the Newport Folk festivals, will be honored with the prestigious John Hazen White Sr., Leadership in the Arts Award.
The funds raised will go toward scholarships and community outreach programs that ensure equitable access to music education throughout the region.
