At dusk each day, the light show begins outside The Breakers. For the first time, the exterior of this great house and its landscape will be awash in light, including 28 spruce trees covered in holiday lights with shifting colors along the two driveways; three large evergreen trees at the house entrance decorated with lights and ornaments; and illumination of the historic paths, hedges and shrubbery as visitors stroll the grounds.
The Children’s Cottage will be outlined in lights and visitors will be able to peek through the windows at Santa’s Workshop inside. Holiday music will fill the air there and at the Welcome Center, and refreshments such as hot chocolate and sweets will be available to purchase.
The Breakers will be open seven days a week except for Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. On December 24, last tour admission will be at 3 p.m.
During Holidays at the Newport Mansions, Saturday, Nov. 21, through Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, The Breakers will open at 10 a.m., with last interior tour admission at 5 p.m. The house will close at 6 p.m. and the grounds will stay open until 8 p.m. for the holiday lights experience.
