We’re nearly two centuries old, but our mission isn’t limited to archival documents, important dates, and priceless colonial artifacts. Sometimes, it’s about bumper cars, bathing suits, and carousels with squirrels.
Thursday, May 10, is one of those times.
In 2018, as the Rhode Island Historical Society explores our programming theme of “R&R in RI,” we’re taking you back in time to the golden age of Ocean State amusement parks for our Spring Forward… Think Back benefit gala, Midway Memories.
Our dreamland of the past will be held on the grounds of the Aldrich House, featuring “fair-inspired" fare from some of Rhode Island’s favorite caterers, cocktails, our own “Alhambra” ballroom, and more. You can try your luck at our silent auction, and you’ll be amazed at the wondrous displays, just as you would have been a century ago in Riverside… minus the roller coaster, of course!
You’re invited to purchase tickets to this fundraising gala taking place at the RIHS’s Aldrich House headquarters, an 1822 mansion on Providence’s East Side.
All proceeds benefit the RIHS’s mission to “Remember, Interpret, Honor, and Share” Rhode Island’s history through our events, exhibits, programs, educational initiatives, publications, and collaborations.
