“The Greybeards.” Sunday, March 10th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at The Meeting House. The concert will include music composed by the prolific German composer Georg Philipp Telemann. With over 3000 pieces published in the late Baroque period, his work includes memorable melodies and moving harmonies. In this concert The Greybeards with the wonderful soprano,Heidi Dion, will explore his cantatas and arias. This group of arias presents a variety of emotional styles which is enhanced by adding some short pieces with various combinations of harpsichord, viola de Gamba, and traverso (baroque flute). The Greybeards are comprised of Mike Shand, Will Ayton, and Glenn Giuttari and they have been performing together since 2010. Their first concert together was at the Meeting House and titled “Three Greybeards at the Court of King Frederic the Great”. Since then, they have enjoyed performing together often and also enjoy relaxing after rehearsals with a scotch.
Soprano Heidi Dion is a native of Somerset, MA. She holds a BA degree in visual design and illustration from U Mass Dartmouth. She has studied with Karyl Ryczek and Bonnie Pomfret. Heidi has been a member of Sine Nomine choir since its founding and has been the featured soprano soloist a number of times. She currently serves as music director of Saint Louis DeFrance parish in Swansea and is a professional breeder of English Cocker Spaniels.
