The Newport String Project launches its Newport County Concert Series on Saturday, October 26th , 2pm at St John’s Church in Newport, and Sunday, October 27th , 2pm at St Matthew’s Church in Jamestown, featuring its resident ensemble, the Newport String Quartet, performing works by Franz Joseph Haydn, Felix Mendelssohn, Imogen Holst and Carlos Simon.

This dynamic concert will feature two masterworks for string quartet – Haydn’s String Quartet op 17 no 4 in c minor and Felix Mendelssohn’s monumental String Quartet in f minor, op. 80 – alongside Imogen Holst’s atmospheric and rarely heard Phantasy Quartet, as well as Carlos Simon’s "Warmth of Other Suns" inspired by the Great Migration.
