Signature Quilts, also called “inscribed” and “friendship” quilts, have multiple names written on them and tell wonderful stories about love, war, migration, and community. This lecture includes a history of inscribed quilts, methods, and types.
Attendees are invited to bring one quilt for identification. Quilts are arranged in chronological order and used as examples in the lecture.
This lecture will be held in the Livingston Gallery (first floor) during "Stepping Inside the Outside,” a special exhibition of work from the Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA), an international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the art of quilting and the artists who create them.
