First planting of pinot noir vines in 1976 and now cultivate 10 acres of this classic French grape. The first vintage released was the 1983 pinot noir, grown at Diamond Hill with special attention to proper yield and vinified in the French tradition using new French oak barrels for aging. Because fine pinot noir requires this long aging, Diamond Hill decided to explore the potential of making other wines from New England with fruits such as apples, blueberries and peaches, to name a few. Diamond Hill has been commended for its cranberry apple, blueberry, peach, raspberry, and pinot noir blanc wines, as well as its latest vintage of pinot noir.
