The Beginning

As a young traveler, our founder Victor ventured across Europe, immersing himself in the diverse cultures and flavors that captivated their imagination. In 1991, Victor obtained his Visa and journeyed to New York with only a savings and ambition to pursue his dreams.

The early days were marked by hardships, from navigating the complexities of securing an apartment and employment to becoming fluent in English, all while navigating it alone.

Knowing that New York City is a hard place to start a business, he moved to Rhode Island in 1996, started taking businesses classes and found an opportunity to get into the coffee business.

Later Victor formed a partnership that led to the acquisition of Contempo Coffees in Johnston, Rhode Island. By 2002, Victor made the decision to sell the successful business, paving the way for new opportunities and ventures.

Café International Is Formed

It was during this time that he discovered Big Apple Bagel, an establishment nestled in the heart of Cranston, Rhode Island. With limited knowledge of crafting bagels, Victor traveled to New York, and learned the intricacies of bagel making.

After his return, Victor seized the opportunity to acquire Big Apple Bagel and formed Café International—a unique fusion of coffee and bagels within a vibrant café and bakery setting.
