In Rhode Island the primary hunting seasons typically run from the second Saturday in September to the last day of February and from the third Saturday in April to the last day in May, however this can vary from year to year and depends on what game is being hunted. During hunting season you should wear at least 200 square inches (a hat OR a vest) of blaze orange. During shotgun deer season, which is typically in December, you should wear at least 500 square inches of blaze orange (a hat AND a vest). For more information see the RI DEM website.

There are three interconnected trails at the 230 acre Pardon Gray Preserve. The Cemetery Trail passes an active vernal pool near the start. It connects with the Ridge Trial at a point close to the Yellow Trail in the adjacent Weetamoo Woods preserve. The Ridge Trail ends at a small parking area on Lafayette Road. From the parking lot go about 200 yards west on Lafayette Road to get to the start of the Lafayette Connector trail, which leads back to the parking area along Main Road. Access to the lightly used South Trail is from the Town Farm Recreation Area parking lot at the south end of Pardon Gray Preserve.

The cemetery in the center of the 67 acre farmland is that of the family of Pardon Gray. Pardon Gray provided bread and other staples to the soldiers stationed at Fort Barton during the Revolutionary War.

My grandfather was Calvin A. Gray from 1942, I decided to look up our last names history.

Submitted by: Nicholas A. Gray; July 3, 2019; 3:34 am

Dear Pardon Gray Reserve, I decided to look up the Gray name history, I found a story about a Gray owned sawmill & plently of land ownership. My grandfather Calvin A. Gray owned a Trash business Gray & Son's Trash Co & we also have a Gray's Fuel Co. where I live. I'm interested in learning more about Gray name history. Thanks. From: XSICION USA (another Gray owned company)
