Nestled virtually in the middle of the state, East Greenwich’s charming Main Street is an ideal stretch for strolling, shopping and snacking on a sunny summer afternoon. And while there’s a wealth of places to see and things to do in this friendly little community, these are some of our can’t-miss stops.
SHOP: Sweet and eco-friendly treats for Fido at Bone Appetit (Wednesday to Sunday 10-4pm); a nautical sweatshirt or tote bag from Bags by Iris; a designer gown from ZuZu’s Petals (Wednesday-Saturday, 10-5pm) (fun fact: they’re named after the youngest daughter in It’s a Wonderful Life); or a custom suit from Blueprint 5. Choose a piece of vintage jewelry at the Harbour Galleries; modern furniture from the White Elephant (open Thursday through Saturday, 11AM-5PM); a unique antique, a “cure for the wardrobe blues” from Therapy Boutique (Monday-Saturday 11-5pm); or explore the Third Rock Emporium mineral and fossil gallery and its handmade carvings, statues and jewelry and some eccentric treasures and gifts from the Troll Shop (closed Sundays). For more ways to shop like a local, check out ShopLocalRhodeIsland.com.
EAT: An iced vanilla latte at MainStreet Coffee and Toscana; fried chicken and waffles at Dante’s Kitchen; a Besos Board (la Quercia prosciutto, roasted vegetables, artisanal cheeses, cranberry and wheat bread) from Besos Kitchen and Cocktails; or linguine alle vongole veraci at La Masseria. Enjoy a beautiful ocean view while dining at Finn's Harbourside; or a cookie dough cupcake at Silver Spoon Bakery.
DO: Get a massage and / or facial at Shimmer Salon and Day Spa; and have your nails done at Naturally Nails. Take in show at the Greenwich Odeum (starting up in February) or check out YJ Contemporary Fine Art, Rhode Island's largest contemporary art gallery. Beer lovers can stop by LinesSider Brewing Company (Thursday-Sunday) and sample what's on tap in their tasting room or outdoor courtyard.
