The Governor Henry Lipitt House Museum, a premier Renaissance Revival Mansion built in 1865 is the finest 19th century house open to the public in Providence. The house is a blend of traditional architectural forms with an interior decorative design embodying the high style Victorian taste of the period. The museum was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976 and was occupied by the Lippitt Family until it was donated to Preserve Rhode Island in 1981.
