A graduate of Johnson & Wales University, Ben’s drive to learn has taken him as far as Copenhagen, where he apprenticed at the peerless Noma. During his time at the Dorrance, he was twice nominated for Food and Wine’s People’s Best New Chef, and the restaurant was named one of Bon Appetit’s Top 50 Best New Restaurants of 2012. Ben was nominated for the James Beard Foundation’s Rising Star Chef of the Year award in conjunction with the restaurant being nominated for Best New Restaurant. Previously, while serving as chef de cuisine at La Laiterie at Farmstead, Ben was the only chef nominated as one of 11 to watch in 2011 by The Providence Journal.
