Juneteenth is a celebration that commemorates the June 19, 1865 emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the Confederate states of America. Several events are running the weekend of June 16-18, commemorating the day:
Friday, June 16
Comedy Show
Featuring "Who's Got Jokes" Winner D'Lai
D'Lai, is one of the nation's most sought after comics. He was the winner of the 2004 Vegas Star Search and has appeared on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, Showtime, BET's ComicView, and Kevin Hart's Laughing Out Loud Network.

Providence Black History Walking Tour
The tour is approx. 1.5 hours depending on the pace that folks move along. There are a couple of steep hills.

YOUth Day
During YOUth day there will be cultural readings, fun activities, a DJ, ice cream with all the toppings, pizza, face painting and dancing.
