Boos & Brews
Boos & Brews pairs frightening and fantastic Halloween-inspired attractions with wicked good local beer. Midweek hotel deals make this mini-vacay so affordable, it’s scary!
Newport
Try Olde Town Ghost Walk, a frighteningly good tour put on by Ghost Tours of Newport. As you stroll the lantern-lit streets of Newport you’ll hear tales of ghost ships, graveyard crypts, ghosts, and more. Once you’ve had your fill of things that go bump in the night, treat your palate to some flavorful small-batch craft beer (and delicious food too!) at TapRoot Brewing Company. FYI, when you’re ready to call it a night, you can have your head on a pillow at the Wyndham Newport Hotel in under 10 minutes.
Providence & Warwick
Take a haunted boat tour full of tales of the capital city’s restless dead, souls who linger in the shadows of this historic location, as you cruise Providence’s waterways by the light of the moon… What’s better than a cruise? How about a flight – of inventively crafted beer – in a historic mill? Cure your goosebumps with some delicious seasonal brews at Apponaug Brewing Company in Warwick. Then make a night of it with a stay just a stone’s throw away at the NYLO Hotel. Designed with the same Industrial Age vibe as Rhode Island’s beloved textile mills, we’re talking high vaulted ceilings, polished concrete floors, modern comforts, and custom beds and bedding. Exactly the kind of comfort you need after a night of thrills and chills.
Providence is also home to the extraordinary Roger Williams Park Zoo Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular, an eerily beautiful walk amongst more than 5,000 expertly carved and lit pumpkins. Locals’ tip: The trail is usually open from 6 PM-10:30 PM, but for a more adult experience (fewer kids) go in the last hour. It makes a BIG difference. For a completely different perspective of the event, take the Soaring Eagle Zip Ride to get an aerial view of both the pumpkins and the zoo. Once you’ve pondered pumpkin art to your heart’s content, make your way to Long Live Beerworks on the West Side of Providence for some hop-forward beer and cask-conditioned ales in their industrial-chic taproom. Consider staying at the Graduate Hotel in Providence. Formerly known as the Biltmore Hotel, it was once named the most haunted hotel in America! It’s been gorgeously and thoughtfully redesigned in its new incarnation and we hear the ghosts love it (kidding!).
Pawtucket
Pawtucket has plenty of brews to choose from at The Guild, Smug Brewing, Foolproof Brewing Company, and Crooked Current Brewery. And the Hampton Inn Pawtucket is just 10 minutes to Providence.
Getting Here
Whether you're flying into Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport (PVD) taking the train, it's no sweat getting here. Our airport is super easy to navigate, and the train brings you right into the heart of Providence. Another easy and affordable option is buses. You can catch a bus from both New York City and Boston to Providence and Newport. Once you've arrived, you'll love how walkable both Providence and Newport are. There are also RIPTA buses (the #60 bus runs from Providence to Newport and back), Uber, and Lyft. Getting from here to there couldn't be easier or quicker. Through October 11, you can travel between Providence and Newport via ferry, as well.
