Festival of Historic Houses

On June 4, Providence Preservation Society presents the 40th Festival of Historic Houses. The self-guided tour explores homes and gardens along the crest of College Hill on Keene Street and Lloyd Avenue.

Houses began appearing in this area in the 1850s, by the 1870s, Second Empire and Italianate houses dotted the streets. The 1880s and 1890s building boom brought the neighborhood a blend of comfortably sized and detail rich Queen Anne and Colonial Revival Houses.
