Charlestown Beach
Secluded, romantic and known for amazing sunsets. Charlestown Beach is a great spot for a sunset picnic and the long jetty is an excellent spot for fishing. It’s also a wonderful place to sit and watch the boats sail in and out of New Harbor.
Access to Charlestown Beach is from Coast Guard Road (also known as Champlin Road) off of West Side Road, just past the entrance to Champlin’s Marina in New Harbor. Go down the dirt road, and when it turns sharply to the right towards the end, access to the beach is easy to spot. (Don’t drive your car, as there’s no parking; it’s also a dirt road, so no mopeds.) While beautiful, Charlestown Beach is not a great place for swimming.
