The site provides access to about 210 acres of forested habitat, lush Hemlock forests, swampland abundant with wildlife, nearly 3 miles of maintained trail, access to the Nipmuc River and opportunities for an educational outdoor classroom. The Boy Scouts of America, Pascoag Troop 100 have rebuilt a number of wetland crossing log passes, created a series of outdoor benches for an outdoor classroom, post marked special habitat areas along the trail which identify key vegetation and built two kiosks for user information. The trail is marked with white tree brandishes so users can navigate around the site trail and to the river access point.
The Burrillville Conservation Commission’s Nipmuc River Trail is located off of Round Top Road, RI Route 96 in Burrillville, about a 1/4-mile north of the intersection of Smith Road. Parking is alongside the highway off the southbound lane of Route 96. The trail head is located on the opposite side of the highway and traverses across a right of way on private land.
