The bi-annual Newport Secret Garden Tour opens the gate to a number of private gardens during its return in June and September. "On the Point," as it is titled this season, features more than a dozen private gardens including some that are new this year hidden in Newport’s historic Point District. Primarily designed and maintained by their owners, each garden is a labor of love shared with the community to help raise funds for the arts education programs at Aquidneck Island’s public schools. Since 1984, the organizers and supporters of the Secret Garden Tour have been dedicated to enhancing art education and cultural programs in Aquidneck Island’s Public Schools. Funding dozens of programs in music, theater and fine arts for local schoolchildren, to date, the Secret Garden Tour has given more than $1 million to the.public schools.
