Surf Beach
- 32 Dodge Street, Block Island, RI 02807
- Block Island
Right at the south end of Crescent Beach sits Surf Beach, named for The Surf Hotel which sits just above it. It’s the best place to snorkel on the island, with rock formations and a breakwater that make it an ideal spot to check out the abundant sea life, including small crabs and starfish, and to hunt for shells and sand dollars. The beach stays shallow for a long way out, making it great for kids. In terms of location, it’s hard to beat – it’s just a three-minute walk from the ferry landing, making it close to town and bathrooms. Beach access is from the Surf Hotel, or from a path right in the center of town, across from the National Hotel or across from the library. If you need snorkeling equipment, there are rentals available from the Surf Hotel.
