The Colonial Theatre
The Colonial Theatre is committed to producing professional theatre of the highest quality, to providing an outdoor Shakespeare Festival, and to establishing a series of educational programs and training opportunities for both children and adults designed to enhance both knowledge and appreciation of theatre arts. This year marks the 19th season of the Shakespeare Festival. This popular event draws over 20,000 audience members each year to historic Wilcox Park in downtown Westerly to experience the thrill of live, outdoor theatre. The Festival has been honored for the excellence of its productions and designated the "Official Shakespeare Festival of Rhode Island" by the Rhode Island House of Representatives. The Shakespeare Festival has also been named "Best of Summer Evening Pleasure" by Rhode Island Monthly's annual "Best of Rhode Island" issue.
