Recipient of a 2024 James Beard nomination for "Best New Restaurant", this family-owned and operated restaurant, Tuxpan Taqueria, offers a taste of home and tradition in each specialty dish, made with love.
Owner and chef Diego Alcantar and his family moved from Túxpan Michoacan, Mexico, about 14 years ago.
Now a resident of Cumberland, Alcantar is living the dream and invites you in to try the many signature dishes on the menu.
The Gordita (with choice of meat, refried beans, cabbage, sour cream, guacamole and cotija cheese served on fried open empanada) is their specialty. Other highlights include the torta, huarache, and pambazo.
The staff makes tortillas by hand, and cooks with fresh ingredients every day. They get their fresh bread from a Portuguese bakery up the road. They’ve had many days where they sold out of everything... so don't wait to try this delicious restaurant!
