Bristol Art Museum Issues Call for Art for Regional Juried Exhibition Here & Now
- 10 Wardwell St, Bristol, RI 02809
- Newport County
- November 8, 2026 - January 10, 2027
The Bristol Art Museum invites artists from Rhode Island and the surrounding Southern New England region to submit original artwork for Here & Now, a regional juried exhibition celebrating the places, people, waterways, landscapes, and communities that shape our region.
The exhibition will be on view from Dec. 6 through Jan. 10, 2027, with an opening artist reception on Sun., Dec. 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. The submission deadline is Sun., Nov. 8.
Artists are encouraged to submit contemporary, conceptual, traditional, or literal interpretations inspired by Rhode Island, the greater Narragansett Bay area, or Southern New England. Artwork may reflect coastal landscapes, working waterfronts, architecture, neighborhoods, local history, natural environments, community life, or personal connections to place.
“Artists have a unique ability to help us see the places we know in new ways, revealing the stories, memories, and connections that often go unnoticed,” said Museum Curator and Board Member Mary Dondero. “Here & Now invites artists to share their personal perspectives on the landscapes, communities, and experiences that make this region so inspiring.”
The exhibition will feature three distinct presentations throughout Bristol Art Museum:
Livingston Gallery: Selected works from the Here & Now Regional Juried Call for Art
Abbot Low Gallery: Harbor photographs by featured Bristol artist Brendon Adams
Brick Gallery: New work created by artists participating in Bristol Art Museum’s 2026 Harbor Residency
Together, these exhibitions will explore the many ways artists interpret and celebrate the places we call home.
Dan Wallace will serve as the juror for this exhibit. He holds degrees in Fine Arts and Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design, as well as degrees in Horticultural Science and Nursery Management. Wallace’s career with Sudbury Design Group reflects his longstanding appreciation for the relationship between art, science, landscape, and the environment.
Artists whose work is selected for the exhibition will have the opportunity to offer their artwork for sale, with 50 percent of all sales supporting the Bristol Art Museum’s exhibitions, educational programming, and community initiatives.
The call is open to artists in Rhode Island and the surrounding region who can hand-deliver accepted artwork. Artists may submit up to three original works completed during 2026.
