When: Wednesday, June 17th / Session 1: 9:30 - 10:30 AM, Session 2: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Join Coggeshall Farm for a Homeschool Day! Homeschool day has a rotating series of programs and workshops geared for ages 4+ that bring the historic world to life. This program is for advance sign-up only and includes the cost of admission. It also features a variety of self-guided activities for all ages.

Things to know:
- Coggeshall Farm Museum will be closed to the public on this day except for participating homeschoolers. Your child must be registered for at least one workshop to attend.
- Pre-registration is required for all activities listed below.
- These are not drop-in programs and our staff will have a list of registrants for each workshop.
- Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel your workshop tickets. There is a high demand for these workshops and we would like to be able to offer spots to other participants. You can contact us at coggeshalled@osv.org
- Students’ guardians must stay in close proximity of the program location for the entire duration of the activity for safety reasons.
Workshops & Registration
Session 1: 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. ($12 per participant)
Peas in a Pod (Ages 4 +) | Sign Up
Some plants grow better when they stick together. The sun is shining, and peas are climbing. These beautiful vines produce a tasty treat, and have soil super-powers. Join us to learn more about why we love peas, and create a collage to bring home.
Make Some Music (Ages 7 – 9) | Sign Up
Choirs, Flutes, Violins, Oh my! When you can’t buy recorded music, you have to make your own. Join us to craft a simple flute and learn songs that made toes tap 200 years ago.
Switchel – A Historic Sports Drink (Ages 10+) | Sign Up
Learn how to beat the heat with a historic summer beverage – SWITCHEL! This concoction was a favorite for our early American farmers. It’s sweet, tangy, and refreshing – it’s the Gatorade of the 1790s! Learn how to make your own switchel using an authentic 18th century recipe and our very own farm-fresh ingredients!
Session 2: 11:00 – 12:00 p.m. ($12 per participant)
Out Like a Lamb (Ages 4+ ) | Sign Up
Come to the farm to visit our lovely little lambs. Learn about what makes a lamb a lamb, why they are important, and how we take care of them. You can even make your own lamb craft to take home with you! A parent or guardian must stay with their child through this program.
Game Time (Ages 7 – 9) | Sign Up
Children on the farm worked hard, but when the chores were done it was game time! Which games do you love to play? Join us to learn about how games have changed over time, and which of your favorite games might have been played right here on this farm more than 200 years ago. Try out some new games that we don’t always have out at the farm.
Dirty Jobs – Laundry Edition (Ages 10+) | Sign Up
Stains beware! Learn how early Americans washed clothes without machines or modern
detergents. It was so hard, they only did it once a month. Do you have what it takes to conquer the laundry?
