In 1894, Slater Memorial Park became the first major park in the City of Pawtucket following the purchase of an estimated 197 acres of land known as Daggett Farm. The Looff Carousel was constructed in 1910 and around 1917 the bandstand and the Slater Park Casino (boathouse) were built in the Park. Slater Memorial Park was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
